Description |
Quilt pieced but not finished; no batting, no trim. Squares were assembled, pieced, from smaller pieces of fabric, and hand sewn to pieces of fabric, which were then assembled to make the quilt. That is the point where the work stopped; there is no batting or backing fabric, and no quilting stitches. On one square is machine stitched an "A". On the back of that square there is hand stitched an "M". Apart from those two there are no identifying marks. That "A" is the only machine stitching, except possibly the stitching that joins the blocks. The rest appears to be hand work. |
