Description

Pair of children's moccasins. a=right, b=left. Handmade. Blue cloth ties for closure. The tie on the left side of "a" is tied to the tie on the right side of "b". Heel "counter" is cloth. Blue and white beads decorate the counter. White beads decorate over the seam between leather and cloth on upper'. Leaf patterns in clear glass, red glass, and white and blue on uppers. The patterns on the shoes are different from each other. Tissue is stuffed inside. No identifying marks.

Slip of paper tucked into "b" has penciled in cursive: "Gift of Marie Happel Purchased by her father in Denver Co. when she was a year old. 80 now." no date.

Notes

Marie Hanes Happel was born 25 Nov 1913 and died 24 Jan 2004. Thus the donation date is 1993 and the date of the moccasins is 1914. Her father's name was William Casey Hanes.
